Honor Cords – Red

Each Red Honor Cords set includes two twisted cords, with a tassel on each end of the each cord (for a total of four tassels). The honor cords are shipped tied together, or separately, at your option. Each half-cord is around thirty inches long, measured from knot to end of tassel (about sixty inches long when spread out rather than folded at the knot). Each tassel is about four inches long. Honor cords are made from rayon (we do not offer silk). You can mix and match different color cords together.

Alternative names for these products are honors cord, honor chords, and honors chords.

These red honor cords are typically used for recognition of individual achievement and participation. They’re generally worn during a commencement ceremony. Honor cords (chords) are used by colleges, universities, community college, high schools, and some middle schools and homeschools.

This Red Color

We offer two variations on reddish colors for school honor cords, this one and maroon. If you are looking for a darker red, we suggest you go with the maroon (see link below).

For graduate hoods and academic regalia colors, shades of red are used to designate the degrees of Communications, Divinity, Journalism, Public Health, Theology, Canon Law, Conservation, Forestry, Music, and Sacred Theology.

Hoods, stoles, and similar products are restricted to just one at a time as an addition to the remainder of the academic dress. However, honorcords are permitted in multiples. You can use multiple sets representing two or more honor societies. There are a lot of universities and colleges that utilize two-color or three-color combinations of colors intertwined, and Academic can accomodate such combinations and variations. In the end, your honor society, club, order, or organization makes the decision on which colors to use in your ceremony, and we will work with you to try and match their requests.
